Local search isn’t just Google anymore. Buyers still use Google Maps, but many now ask ChatGPT and other AI tools for recommendations. Most businesses optimize one channel and ignore the other — which means lost visibility and lost leads.
Solution
Build both layers. Nail Google Maps fundamentals (optimized GBP, review velocity, NAP consistency, city-specific pages). Then create AI visibility through press releases, local mentions, listicles, sponsorships, and multi-platform reviews. Maps ranks proximity; AI ranks recognition.
Lesson
